Still remember when Donnadonut left for GH a couple of months ago. I don't mean to invade her privacy, but there are still those here thinking of her and wishing her well. Is she still at GH? If so, please mention this post to her.

I am a sure winner today if I don't make that first bet.
Re: Donnadonut
Thanks, BeeLady for this post (you beat me to the punch). I have been thinking about Donna so much over the last couple months. Lucy, if there is some way, please let her know how much she is missed and cared for. She's a VSP (VERY SPECIAL PERSON) to so many of us here. Thanks, Lucy.

P.S.: Wishing you continued success in your gamble-free life. Thanks for the inspiration!
Re: Donnadonut
Hi Beelady and Linnie and everyone,

I had to write when I saw the lovely messages you wrote although, of course, they did make me feel a bit guilty.

I stayed three weeks at GH and then decided it was not for me, I have nothing bad to say about the program at all but it was not right for me. I did the assessment and then came home and I have to say that it was not an easy decision to come home, far from it, but I believe it was the right thing for me to do. Since coming home I have had to put a lot of things into place, some of which (financial stuff) is a burden on those closest to me as I no longer have access to any money, have put detailed budgets and repayment stuff into place and am only let loose with a tenner max! So far I am doing great with the money stuff and not gambling and I am feeling happier about that.

Had a bad week generally though as I got sick with an old illness and was in hospital until yesterday. I am working on trying to get better and get to the bottom of it but it is not easy.

I thank you so much for your kind thoughts and concern; I have read peoples posts on here but did not feel at ease re-posting because in some ways I felt that I may have let people down and that makes me sad. I can say though that I tried it and I have taken things away from the experience which are helping me. I have been in contact with people with links to GH and that is helping too.

I hope you are all well and I hope to catch up soon.

Donna xx

Re: Donnadonut
Hi Donna,

So good to hear from you. How was the holiday? Or did the illness strike you first?

First thing I wanted to say is you have not let anyone down by not staying on the GH programme. It is not for everyone and the fact that you gave it a try is the most important thing. You will undoubtedly have taken something away from the time you did spend there and so from that point of view it wasn't wasted.

I'm so pleased to hear that you have put barriers in place at home. These will help you so much to fight those urges. You've obviously done really well so far and I hope you continue to keep that strength.

Please don't be shy in using the site, even just to tell us how you're doing. And you have my mail address if you really are having a shy day!!

Keep that strong character I saw in you and know is in there fighting and I hope you get better soon.

LOL

Re: Donnadonut
Hi Donna,

What matters most is that you are okay. I admire you for the time that you have taken for yourself in trying the GH program. That took tremendous courage on your part. And, as you have said, you were able to take away some positives in the time that you were there, as well as strengthen your support system. I am very proud of you for implementing a solid financial plan and for not gambling.

There is no judgement here, as we are all in this together.

I was sorry to hear that you were in the hospital recently and hope that you are feeling better real soon.

Stay in touch and let us know how things are going. Okay?

As always, wishing you the absolute best.

Linnie
