The need to gamble is in my blood..
Hi Mick. I have read your story and relate to it totally. I am in a serious situation. Despite having counseling and having given up for months several times, I keep jumping back in the pool and each time sink to the bottom. I then get out, recover then do it all again and again. This circle goes round and round. I am of the view that I need more intense treatment as I am facing being homeless and jobless due to my severe addiction. I will blow a days earnings which I work hard for. Even knowing that my bills are late and my potentially great business is dying because of my illness. I am now taking steps to get it right for once and for all.
Can you tell me more about Gordon House please. I think it may be what I need.
Many thanks.

Re: The need to gamble is in my blood..
Hi Tony,
GORDON HOUSE was for me the last resort, a life saver which worked. Gordon House has two centres one in Beckenham Kent and one in Dudley West Midlands. If you applied and were excepted ( And providing there were vacancys) it would be normal to go to the farthest away from your present location. i.e. If you live in London then Dudley would be prefered. This is to give you a good start in a new environment. the program itsself I have briefly explained on previous pages of ASK MICK.
Should you decide to apply, you will need an application form. To obtain one either Phone :- 01384 241 292 or E-Mail help@gordonhouse.org.uk
Hope this helps, Best Regards, MICK.(G.H.)

Re: The need to gamble is in my blood..
Hi Mick. Thanks. I have asked for the forms and they are posting them today. I live in Liverpool. I'm 43 and in the last chance saloon. I have lots of time ahead to make a very good, meaningful life. But I must do it now. And, if I have to go away, so be it. Many thanks for your help. I'm sure we'll be exchanging views and posts as I'll be around for the foreseeable future.

Re: The need to gamble is in my blood..
hi tony i arrived at GH 9 september 2006 at dudley i finnished the program begining june 2007 and i am currently in a half way house still recieving support from GH. i am starting college in sept so i now have a start at a new life but before GH i was a just a shell of a man homeless and broken, i could not see any light at the end of the tunnell, i felt that i barley existed.i belive that GH is a privalidge and that the staff are saviours, i can not praise them enough for what they do.50% of the program is the staff the other 50% is up to you with the support of the community , but you have to want this for yourself, and if you do then grasp it with both hands mate as this is a chance of a lifetime.i wish you all the best with your recovery be strong and stay focused.
