      Hi all,

I recently signed up for this because I need some serious advice on how to not gamble on sports anymore.
I do it purely for the rush and out of boredom but I have lost over $6,000 of my hard earned money. I have also found myself
taking money from my parents for “tutor money” just to pay off and keep sports betting. There have been weeks of massive success, but no
matter what I always find myself losing money in the long run. I need help to abstain from this because I now owe money that I cannot pay off
all at once or without the help of my family. I don’t know what to do, I don’t want this affect my life forever and I feel very lost // stuck right now.
Would happily take any advice that would be offered. I don’t want to hate myself anymore.

Hi. Even if we win we can’t keep the money we always go back. You are young and if you can deal with this now you can stop a lot of hurt in the future. Let family or friends know about the problem it helps to get it off your chest and get support. Keep coming on here and updating us how you are getting on. Ban yourself from any betting sites and ask to be banned from shops if you bet in them. It gets easier as time passes I felt sick and couldn’t sleep for a while after losing all my savings. Try not to be too harsh on yourself and stay strong you can do this.

First, make sure to self exclude from all possible places both online and in person. If you’re not allowed to make the bets, gambling becomes a whole lot harder.

Make sure to check in here at least once a day. Read other stories, chat with other people and find the support that you need.

Also, look further into why you gamble. You have already started doing this, acknowledging that you enjoy the rush. Consider what your triggers are and this will help you to avoid them or handle them in the future.

I would also recommend talking to your parents. It sounds like they are your support system and will be the greatest help of all for you!
