Good morning, my name is Larry and I am a compulsive gambler, my last bet was August 13, 2009. Welcome to GT, a site where you can get to know people and learn from them; the beginning of a new world for you to know.
If the world you know is nothing but bingo and slots, those around you sees you as a gambler, not the person that you think your parents see in you; face up to the truth.  Coming clean again can be hard, mostly because you are also again admitting to yourself what you have done. But "admitting to ourselves and to another human" is one of the steps we must take to recover. In doing so, it might be best to do it now, as soon as possible – not convenient. Do it before they find out on their own – and they will, if not already known or highly suspected -, thus adding to any mistrust you may face. You are at a good stage having taken actions by coming here, showing them that you are sincere in facing your need to stop. If and when you do this, it is vital to be completely honest with them (and yourself).  Let them know of your total addiction and the reason for the lack of money. Do not hold anything back for later, telling a little at a time causes additional mistrust each time that you spill out a little more of the story, you will then have to face another barrage of questions and new mistrust. Each time you revise your story they will just think, "what next, what else are you  hiding".
Search this site for barriers and suggestions for you to be gambling free, ways to help you in recovery, way to stop ***** your parents.  Secrets keep us sick .As long as you continue to *** your way through life when it comes to gambling, you will remain in a cycle where you hate yourself so you gamble, you gamble and you hate yourself, and on and on it goes.  Give in to this cycle and you will stay on the treadmill, get off and live your thirties and others years in a better way. If you want to get the mountain out of your way, change your life; turn around and the mountain will be behind you.

God’s speed, use your Higher Power to guide and strengthen you.Larry"Day Two Is Another Day Behind" – With the help of a Higher Power, My 3G’s – God, GA, and GT, I will continue to be  gambling free.

Welcome to forum World I know.  It is a good place to find support and good advice such as that Larry has given you.  Read the threads and find what will work for you.  Different tools work for different people however there does seem to be common ones used by people who are successful at stopping.   Keep coming back is a good one!
      take care,
      Laura

      Hi there
It is good you have come here and you are facing your addiction, that is the first step looking for help and admitting you are a compulsive gambler.  Keep posting, try the groups here.  Maybe try to do some things to help for now like carrying little or no money on you a  minimum, dont carry credit cards. Maybe ban where you can, go to a GA meeting.  Try to work a little bit on recovery every day.  I always think of how much effort i put into gambling, if i put half of the effort into being gamble free as i did into gambling i should be ok!!!

***** and welcome to the forum,  Im sure you will be reading a lot you will relate to on the other threads here.  You will also be reading the success stories – what are they doing that you can aply to your own situation?  Being honest with your parents would help, then you can show them by your ACTIONS how much you want to stop gambling.  Actions like getting to GA meetings, like asking them to make you accountable for spending etc Like getting excluded from where ever it is you normally gamble.  Keep posting and let us know what positive actions you are taking.
