      DAY1

I already hit rock bottom. I am down in debt for almost 700 thousand pesos. By the way, I am a Filipino and this is a huge amount for someone like me.
For those who are curious, my gambling started 5 years ago with just a few hundred pesos. As my salary increases, I also increased the sports/esports bet and gambling frequency that I make.

I am earning around 200,000 per month as an OFW. I am still grateful that I can still remit a good amount of money to my family in the Philippines but it makes me sick to my stomach just to think that around 700,000 pesos is wasted for nothing. My family and my girlfriend do not know my problem. I do not want them to know and I want to clear all of this debt in one year. I am planning to marry my girlfriend in two years and I want to be clean by then. I promise, I will not gamble ever again!!!!!

I already blocked all the betting websites using Gamban app and hopefully, I will never get back to gambling. Pray for me on this journey.
I hate those sleepless nights thinking that if I did not gamble, I still have so much money to make myself happy and give nice gifts to my nephew/nieces for their birthday.

Gambling is evil, it feels good to win but after you win, you will just gamble again. You are just doing this cycle of “gambling just to have money to gamble again”. I don’t want to do this anymore. I will come back again to update this post from time to time.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
      Take care
      The Gambling Therapy Team

      Hi 009

Well done writing your first post

Instead of coming back to update ‘from time to time’, why not make it a daily visit so that you can see your progress. How about joining our facilitated groups and sharing your journey in real time. Take all the support you can get

You are being listened to and understood.

      Velvet

Day 11 today. I feel good. I can focus more on work. Another benefit is that I can sleep early. I am also training for a full marathon on December 4.

Dont chase your losses. Just quit gambling. You will thank yourself later for a wonderful feeling in your well being. 🙂

      Hello again

Already you are creating a great journal to look back on and see how you are doing. Yes, there are days that were not so good but you got through them and they were all followed by days that you say you were having wonderful feelings of being alive and good. Those are the days to remember and as time goes by they will be more frequent, longer and even more wonderful – a lifetime of wonderful days is in your grasp.

A full marathon in December will be a real challenge but you sound as though you are ready for taking really big challenges on and giving them determination and courage – well done. I look forward to following your progress.

      Day 18

      Hi Velvet,

Thank you for the encouraging words. I am really happy that I started this journey. As you said, there will be hard times when the urge to go back to the old ways will kick in. If those times happen, I will look at this journal and reflect with the wonderful things that happened to me throughout this journey. Holiday season is coming, and I am really excited to enjoy the holiday after 5 years with no fuzzy idea of gambling.
      Have a good day. 🙂

      DAY 25
No point in regretting. We cannot get back what we lost in the past. Most important thing is to move forward and do not repeat the same mistake. Do not gamble! We can do it. 🙂

      Day 35

I am happy to say that I am on 35th day without gambling. I can easily remove the urge of gambling by watching Netflix or listening to songs. I also listen to a podcast on spotify named “Calm it Down”.

🙂 Keep fighting my friend! We can live without gambling 🙂
