1st day today rang gamcare. On cusp of losing my family due to this gambling issue I had. I am bold saying had as i think i am over it but wish to completely get rid of any repeat.
nI have build thousands of hidden debt and wasted savings I have lied about. I’ve had to come clean on everything. Ashamed, heartbroken does not even sum this up. My wife and family are truly devastated and I am rock bottom. I will bounce back this will not get me. I have come clean I have no feelings right now but I know I no longer have to lie or steal- that to me has released anxiety and stress I have been hiding. Whilst no excuse I feel I can start again and be completely transparent.
nI don’t know how I can repair this without putting my family through more pain. If anyone has starters pls let me know I have opened up all my finances as a start and booked a session with gamcare to kick things off.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums

Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties you’re currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if you’re new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. We’re in this together!

Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like you’re not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.

As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)

      And on that note….

I’m going to hand you over to our community because I’m sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂

      Take care

      The Gambling Therapy Team

PS: Let me just remind you to take a look at our privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works!

      Hi

Its great to see you’ve taken an important step, well a few important steps..

being honest with others allows you to be honest with yourself and this is such an important thing to do . Secondly seeking professional support is in my opinion a great way to move forward

Your line “I don’t know how I can repair this without putting my family through more pain” the pain is there, will you cause more pain by actively seeking help… or will they if you commit actually be given the space to heal and recover

It doesn’t happen overnight but it does happen if and I say again “IF” you 100% commit to recovery

Be proud of your actions and Id strongly advise your wife gets support, this can be done through Gamcare also or indeed our online groups and forums https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/en/why-not-try-our-friends-and-family-online-support-groups
