I have a terrible gambling problem. Seems admitting it isn’t so much the problem but actually quitting is. I found this site coming off a terrible lost and of course I’m tucking my figurative tail and after washing through some very important funds in desperately needed now I’m at the point where change is mandatory.

I will NOT continue to gamble. Enough is enough!
I will exercise self control over my impulses.
I will make a commitment to my recovery and invest time and effort into this positive change.
I will find positive activities that can replace my gambling activities.
I will never get that jackpot, big win, or “get my money back to break even with the house.”
      It’s over….. and I’m fine with that.

      Peace&Luv

Hi mzbaeka and welcome to the forum. I’m sure reading the other stories here you will have seen the sort of things that have helped others stop gambling. Which of those positive actions can you apply to your own recovery?

This weekend has been tough… I have relapsed and I lost BIG. I came to the forums last night and felt a bit better but today I went back and lost $500 more. I plan to attend my first GA meeting tomorrow at 7:15. Lord knows I hope that helps.

Hi mzbaeka. GA meetings have really helped me in my recovery. It felt awkward at first but the more you go the easier it becomes. Tell us how it goes. You will be there with others who know just what you are going through. You are making a good choice. Take care.

      Hi again.

I hope you managed to get to that GA meeting.

You say you lost big and then returned and lost another $500? It sounds like one of the first steps you can take is to restrict your access to that amount of money. Who could help you with accountability?

Where did you gamble? How about asking them to ban you?

      Keep posting.
