Even when I make $100 deposit and run that up to $1500 I don’t cash out and find a way to burn through that money.
nEven when I play poker, I realize being a winning player is not enough, I want to put all the money in my account on the flip of one hand.
nEven when I win I think about how much I’ve lost in total and feel compelled to gamble more as I realize I haven’t won.
nEven when I go through days where I overdraft my account
nEven when I feel like throwing up and not believing “how bad I ran today”
nEven when I see my health declining
nEven when I want to punch the wall or break something
nEven when I just want to take every dollar I have to my name and put it all on one hand of blackjack to come out “victorious” because screw gambling I’m not going to lose!
nEven when I spend all day gambling and come out a loser?
nEven when I can’t get my deposit through online and I don’t do anything else until it goes through.
nEven when I started taking out loans so I could gamble “without worry”
nEven when I decided I’d keep gambling until i won, and when I won I gambled until I lost.
n
nEven when it all seems like I’m a problem gambler I want the casinos to know, as Mark Wahlberg said in the movie “The Gambler” (2014):
n”I’m not really a gambler!”
n
nI quit.
n
nI quit self-destructing because I’m worth it. -

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums
Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties youre currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if youre new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. Were in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like youre not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)
And on that note….
Im going to hand you over to our community because Im sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care
The Gambling Therapy Team
PS: Let me just remind you to take a look at our privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works!
