I keep telling myself- just quit. Then the next paycheck comes and its gone the same day. I pay most of my bills but have lost my house
n2 years ago. I make good money and feel like an idiot that I have nothing – all because i am trying to get rich fast. It started out w/ lottery tickets
nand is now poke machines and lottery. I WANT to quit. I just don’t know how. I have looked for GA meeting near me and closest is 2 hours
naway. I don’t know what else to do or where to start. I am just messing up my whole life. -

Sorry couldn’t get it to format properly.

nI am 53, make 100k a year and literally have nothing. I dream of winning the lottery so I can have a nice house and stuff, but in reality if I quit gambling – I could have all that. I spent 25 years in the military and I honestly feel like the biggest failure because of this addiction. I don’t know where to start, who to talk to (I don’t have alot of friends) – I cry all night sometime and just want the addiction to stop. I don’t even really enjoy it – I just cant stop. -

My suggestion to you is to set some barriors to protect your surplus income “the money you gamble away after you pay your bills”
n
nIf you have a trusted person to handle your finaces this is the best option.
n
nSelf exclude from where you gamble.
n
nYou are not alone there are many of us on here in the same position. Most importantly block your access to money-
nif we don’t have money we can’t gamble which is where we are when we lose it anyway. Take care

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums
Here at Gambling Therapy we pride ourselves on being a caring and diverse online community who can help and support you with the difficulties youre currently facing. We understand that this might be a tough time for you, particularly if youre new to recovery, so come here as often as you need to and participate in the forums, access online groups and connect to the live advice helpline if you need one to one support. Were in this together!
Here on the forum you can share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. The beauty of writing it all down is that you can take your time and you will be creating a record of your progress that you can look back on if it ever feels like youre not moving forward. So, share as much or as little as you like but do try to stick to keeping just one thread in this forum so people know where to find you if they want to be updated on your progress or share something with you.
As well as the forums New Members are invited to join Charles in the New Members Practical Advice Group On Mondays at 21:00 (UK) and Thursday at 19:00(UK)
And on that note….
Im going to hand you over to our community because Im sure they will have some words of wisdom for you 🙂
Take care

Thanks. I am going to try that today. I set up the apple pay thing on my phone so I can get gas/groceries and such and giving my bank card to a friend so I won;t have access to take out cash.
its hard to step away from the machines as they are in every store but w/ out having ATM access I am hopeing I can not play.
