Here at Gambling Therapy we understand that Christmas can be a very challenging time for some of our members. The stress can cause the urge to gamble to return or old memories of previous Christmas’s can surface causing an array of emotions. Although we have reduced cover on the helpline and facilitated groups over Christmas, we DO have cover. If you’re feeling the pressure of Christmas just look out for the open helpline and come and talk to us about it….If the helpline isn’t open why not pop into a group, or post on our forums as there is usually someone feeling the same way who will feel relieved to read that they are not alone.
For those of you who are heading towards your first Christmas in recovery, we hope it will be all you want it to be and more, but don’t put too much pressure on yourself to create the PERFECT Christmas…a Christmas without gambling IS perfect and everything else is icing on that cake 🙂
For all the people using our site who’ve been in recovery for a while, we hope you will be able to spare a few moments away from your celebrations to pop in and offer support to those here who may still be struggling during what can be an emotionally charged season.
ABOVE ALL we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and happy New Year, full of joy and contentment and we look forward to hearing all about it!
Kind Regards
The Gambling Therapy Team

I don’t want to go into the holiday season without thanking the staff at GT, because without you, many of us wouldn’t still be here in recovery. I have learned so much from you and have had support that is invaluable, and for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Wishing you happy holidays and a new year full of blessings! What you do makes a huge difference to us recovering compulsive gamblers. Carole

I echo Caroles words…….without GT my Christmas would be pretty bleak. While it is a stressful time, I can only cringe at the memory of past Christmas’s while I was gambling. Stress wasn’t the word for it!!! Thankfully I have one less worry this year, I wish you all a Merry Christmas, thank you for all that you do, the impact of your work has changed my life. My cup overflows!!! Love, Kathryn xxx
