I felt so lonely for years basically almost all my life… Things got better when I had a boyfriend cause I could always depend on him, but that was a long time ago.. it’s been two years since we split.. I struggled with finding a new meaning for my life and it was hard everyday was a great challenge. Well as if things couldn’t be worse I was introduced into gambling it started with just a few bets a day.. I love the thrill it gives.. very exciting.. I really didn’t know how badly it was going to damage my life. Now everyday I am in tears I have taken a number of loans and put them into my betting habit.. now I am in a lot of debt over $300…. I get threatening messages almost everyday.. my family can’t help cause everyone is poor… I got some offers for sex work but I’m so scared.. I’m scared I don’t want that to be my life… I just want a fresh start in life……. I can’t sleep I just want to disappear… I’ve started thinking of ending me again cause no matter what I do I always fuck everything up.. I am a total fuck up.. I’ve got no one who genuinely listens and guide me.. Its just been me and life is hard.

Hello and thanks for starting a thread in the Gambling Therapy forums. By posting to the forums you’re allowing the diverse and caring Gambling Therapy community to help support you through the difficulties you’re facing.

This may well be a tough time for you – particularly if you’re new to recovery, so we encourage you to post here as often as you need to, as well as making use of the online groups and the live advice helpline if you’d like some one-to-one support. We’re all in this together! If you’re a new member, you are warmly invited to join Charles in one of the New Members Practical Advice groups (Mondays at 21:00 UK Time and Thursdays at 19:00 UK Time).

The forum is a great place to share your experiences in a safe, supportive and accepting environment. By writing it all down you can start to build a record of your progress that you can look back on – particularly useful if you’re ever feeling stuck. Share as much or as little as you like – but you’re encouraged to stick to keeping to just one thread in this forum – so people know where to find you to check in on your progress or to share something with you.

The Gambling Therapy staff team don’t generally post to the forums as it is a peer support area of the site – so we’ll hand you over to the community from here.

      Take care,

      The Gambling Therapy Team

PS. Please take a moment to review our privacy policy and terms and conditions so you know how it all works.

Thanks for sharing your story with us,I can well relate , the load I’m feeling on my shoulders is like I can wake up to a new job or something. I don’t know how I’m going to settle my debts, I feel shameful even when I think of asking them for help coz I confessed before and apologized now I’ve done it again . I never knew there is really a point where you feel like disappearing in life , I’ll never ever judge anybody again

Hi Kika how are you now? Have you stopped gambling? Do you have a job? $300 can be paid back quite quickly within a few months but you have to stop gambling now or that will turn into $3000 or even $30’000. Socialise make connections so you don’t feel so lonely and isolated. Things will get better 🙏
