I just don’t seem able to stop myself going on slots on line. I made a big decision last week to stop, yet for no reason thought I’d ‘win’ some money this afternoon and promptly lost £100. Over the past year I’ve lost thousands, so far I’ve managed to keep it a secret from my wife but I know if I carry on she will find out. I’m at the point if I stop she need never know but if I carry on my hole will get so deep I won’t get out. I need some advice on how to get out of this stupid habit. I know as soon as I deposite money on line I’ve lost it, but them I start chasing it to get it back, it’s really getting me down and I know moods once I’ve lost are not fair on people around me.

Chasing losses gets you into BIG Trouble. I once chased a 100 dollar loss into 20,000 dollars all in 3 days. Dont chases losses; easier siad than done. I just lost 500 euros in Greek dice game today and 1000 euros 2 days ago, all becuase I was bored in Greece on vacation.
I really do not know why I do stupid things when I am bored, I need to stop these negative actions. I understand your point, hiding gambling losses hurts your stomach. Your wife will be hurt as well and your family. We both need to stop, we need to figure out why we are doing this, its counter productive. We should try to do other things when we want to gamble. Today I went to a bordello, cost 30 euro, had a blast, I should have thought differently before I gambled. Its like I lose my money on purpose and than thing differently, WHY?
We need to figure this out.

My brother told me once, you need to separate yourself and not put yourself in a position to gamble. Do not associate yourself with people who gamble, do not go to casinos and so on. We really need to get a handle on this, as it will effect our lives,no matter how much money we make, we will play and gamble the amount that will hurt our pockets.

Your words are very true, I’ve managed a week without gambeling, infact was proud of myself for having money in the left at the end of the week, then a moments boredom thinking £20 wouldn’t hurt, I’m overdue a win, 10 minutes later I’ve lost £200 and back to feeling like crap! So now I start again, never again, yet more scarred how easy ‘that moment ‘ could wreck next week’s finances.

I believe we just need to stop, we know we are not gaining anything from throwing our money away. There is a Greek saying, a fisherman’s plate is one time full and seven times empty. Meaning we win once but lose every other time.
I just experienced this yesterday, I won 200 euro, after being down 450, and yesterday, I lost 500.
Its just stupid, I will try to actively stop, there is no reason to keep contributing to this insanity. I should really make a real effort not to surround myself with people who gamble, and I should not be put in situations like this.
I believe you should do the same, not worth the stress.

Very true and thankyou for your honest wise words. It’s so stupid that when I gamble I almost do so knowing I’m going to loose, it’s just stopping that second where I think it’s a good idea, then chasing that money till I’ve run out of funds.
