If there could be one hour
When I could be as you,
How much I’d try to understand
The things you say and do?
If there could be an hour
When you could be as me
I hope that you would understand
How good I’ve tried to be.
It saddens me that we cannot
Cross over for an hour,
For each to feel the other’s loss
And give each other power.
Am I a gambler, am I not?
I don’t want you to guess.
I want just for an hour
To know what you suppress.
I want then for a lifetime,
When having been as you
For just that little hour
I’d know what I should do.
