      Hi all,

Its with deepest regrets and guilt that i had relapse after staying GF for 127 days. Gambled for excat 2 months and today i’m back to a new journey to start GF.

It is with lots of mental tolls, tireness and distraction of gambling that it affects focus on work, family and personal well being. I believe that gambling is a life time illness for me. I cant cure it but i do need to find ways to stop and to prevent relapse. Something that i will have to accept it, face it and do something about it.

Every period of relapse allow time to move faster then usual when trying to stay GF, sort of happier during gambling moments in certain ways. But however, the same mental tolls , same negative effects will still continue to come back in a same way in the end. I can choose to continue to gamble but it has become too mental tiring and unhealthy that i tell myself to stop this morning and to do what is right.

Good important side is that i had know recently that my wife is expecting our 2nd baby which we been trying for couple of years. I am overwhelmed with happiness and pray that everything will be good. It become even more important for me to be GF!

With this, im determined to work again on staying GF, focusing on work, family and personal health being.

Im worried about relapse, but i believe that i can only take baby steps on each daily day.

Can i do it this time? Can i have a welcome gift to my newborn when he/she is out into the new world that im still on GF and will continue to be?

1st March 2021 @ GF day 1, here i am coming for you!

I will continue to journal and will always welcome any good personal feedback or advice.

I hope we can keep each other motivated in this GF journey and i will be keeping everyone in daily prayers, may god bless and help us all!

      Hi Sunny,

Sorry to hear about your relapse but well done on getting back here to start fresh.

Congrats on the pending arrival of your 2nd baby, as you mentioned it would be an amazing welcome gift for him/her and you to be GF at that time and continue to do so from there.

I look forward to following your progress.

      @ GF 3 days

@ G Rec, thank you always for dropping in for support as it meant a lot to me during this journey.

Very emotional roller coaster of 1st 3 days. Was tempted to be back to gambling to give same reason of reducing the life anxiety that im feeling thru. Filling up the empty void of gambling, but however after reading thru some new threads of other that mentioned the roller coaster feelings once back to gambling is so true!

This 1st week seem tougher then ever, but im hanging in there. Hoping and trying to be stronger then ever. Something that i will need to find something on to fill up the empty void.

God bless us all in this journey of GF!

@ G Rec, gotten this off your post as i find it very meaningful and helpful. Will tell myself each end of the day as well.

“You can only control one day at a time. Make a promise to be better than you were yesterday.” – This is really strong advice and something that is a big part of my approach at the moment, at the end of each day that is gamble-free, I say that’s one more day in the right direction, let’s do the same again tomorrow.

      Hi sunny,

Well done on getting to day 3, having just completed my first week since my own relapse I know it can be a tough one.

Glad to hear that you found that message helpful, I agree that it is a strong message and I find it a helpful way to sign off each day and prepare for the next. I can’t full credit for it though, the first part was provided by astrofly. Great to see we are collectively helping each other.

      Hi all,

Since last post, i had a relapse and have been feeling very bad and ashamed of myself. I could have continue to deposit funds for my sports betting but i choose not to as it had become extreme tired. I realise that if fact when im winning in my sports bet account, i wasnt getting the trill or the excitement.

In fact, its the losing and trying to win back gives the andreline rush that i seem to be seeking.

Having saying all this, i have decided to seek back professional doctor help and conselling now and continue to work on journaling.

Back to @ GF day 1.

Thank you for reading and i really hope for all your support, blessing and encourgement to keep this journey going.

      God bless us all.

      Hi Sunny

I will be following your journey cheering you on. I to am a sports bettor and that normally starts my binges into every form of gambling. What I have found helpful starting out is to not even watch sports or follow scores or anything. I used to look at my sports app everyday and that was a huge trigger for me. This was super hard to do since I love sports almost more then anything, I have slowly started watching again but it’s been nice. Now instead of worrying about who was going to win because it was costing me money, I didn’t care who won I just enjoyed it. That was a huge change for me! Hope any of this helps and stay strong!

      Hi all,

      @ GF day 2

Thank you Badsportsbettor for the enouragement and support.

I had just arranged for an earliest session with my Local GA to seek proffesional help which will be happening on 31st May.

I also just had a good conversation with my colleague whom im close at work with to seek help and support to keep myself focus in my work which i have always been neglecting always due to my gambling.

Time to work on my family as well and will be having more talks with my wife.

Working on recovery and god bless us all.

      Hi All,

      @ GF day 6

It was an exteremly tough weekend that many triggers keep come about.

I shall name the evil monster that keep whispering to me “Evil Sporty” to do some deposit in my betting account, and i been getting back at it by telling him off to get away from me, remember my past lifes and journey. Do i just want to get back at it for a spite of moment. One of the screen that i tell myself is having my kids and family on a weighting scale on the left, and the ” DESTRUCTIVE Adult disneyland on the right”. Pick one.

Another thing i have been doing to handle triggers this period of time is keep watching and listening on youtubes on overcoming addictions plus goggle more informations and readings. This kind of help thru quite a bit.

I realise that one of the trigger usually come about during boredom and little bit of light stress. Therefore, i am hoping to go further in to identify and find ways to see if i can have more preventive measures in.

Another main trigger is also due to the access of funds which im currently working on handing over to someone close to me, while beside beating the gambling addiction, im also working out on my money finanical management. Hoping to learn better and working hard on it since im bad at it since young.

As much as i understand that i had too much on my plate right now to handle, i have decided to quit smoking and alchohol as well, which actually started 3 days back. Pretty sick of all these sort of addictions and hoping to end it all, and to be a good leading example for my kids.

The other important side to me is to reach out to close friends and familiy. I been sharing with my family amd close friends for support and help on my intention to beat the addictions but not yet sharing about the gambling side, which i intend to tell them once im ready, hopefully soon.

I still have pretty much to share but i believe that it is a very long journey that i need to slowly work it thru and i know that i cant just achieve this journey thru using will-powered and etc.

I will and must be ready for this long battle no matter how tough it is and i believe that God is there to help as long as we are willing to give up for change.

For those who is reading these and whom are in same situation. Please do not give up, it is important to reach out.

Lastly , i do hope that you guys or anyone can give me some comments or any supportive message to help us together to get thru this journey together.

Thank you and God Bless us all.

      Hi All,

      @ GF 7 days (1st week)

I am happy to be able to hit my 1st week of GF , but do understand about long journey ahead.

It has become lesser trigger for the last two days as i had taken back more work job responsbility compared to the last couple of years which i havent being doing much work. This allow me to find more purpose in life and as well being more focus in my daily life.

I have also started doing light work out and runs for last two days which i think is great and im feeling happy about it.

I believe i am even stronger to stay GF this time around as i am in placing more barriers, actions and deeper understanding to prevent any replease this time around.

I see many members here like Kin and many other whom share their experiences and i am very greatly for it as i am learning from all of it, further understand, accepting facts and how to work better on it.

I will continue to work on myself importantly first to quit gambling for good this time and will strive to work towards helping others in my local community in near future.

To conclude for this week, the result and reward of this GF have brought great daily morning, less anxiety, more time spent and better communication with family.

Lets keep it going everyone and God bless us all.

      Hi Sunny,

Well done on reaching the 1-week mark GF, I know the first week can be tough and it is great to see you get through the weekend and managing the many triggers.

That is a very nice list of positives that have come from the week being GF, these are positives that will apply to many on this forum myself included, and I hope they help provide motivation and reinforcement for continuing GF.

Always greatful to GT for this platform journaling and also being able to see others journal.

Grateful to be able to work on it back again step by step.

Still abstain from betting journey. GT have been a great platform for journal and as well as reading thru all recovery progress and learning from it.

To all fellows in recovery, seek not to vent gambling in journal for one time off. But seek the journey in recovery together.

I have a compulsive behaviour. Im not an addict. But right now, i choose to lead a better healthy with non gambling.
