The Gordon Moody Association was founded as a charity to help problem gamblers over 40 years ago (originally as Gordon House) with the following objectives:
- The relief of physical and mental sickness amongst those in need as a consequence of problem gambling, in all its aspects.
- The promotion of research into the nature and cause of problem gambling and into all aspects of distress and suffering resulting from such gambling and in to the methods of alleviating such distress and suffering and the publication and dissemination of the results of such research by any appropriate means for the benefit of the public.
- The advancement of education in the subject of gambling of persons in need as a consequence of problem gambling, of persons who may be in a position to affect the recovery of a problem gambler and the public.
- The relief of financial hardship among persons in need as a consequence of problem gambling the provision of facilities for recreation and other leisure time occupation for persons in need as a consequence of problem gambling in the interests of their social welfare.
