I’ve been a compulsive gambler for the last 7 years. I’ve lost everything and more. My relationship with my family is damaged because of this. I even moved far away from my family to a different state thinking it would stop the gambling. Ironically, it has gotten worse. I have a well-paying job but have nothing to show for it. My last gambling binge wiped me out and I’ve run out of resources to replace my lost. Now in a panic. I don’t want to live like this anymore. I want to live a normal life again without having the worries and panic from the aftermath of gambling.

Haven’t had the urge to gamble since my last binge 7 days ago. I don’t feel like I can move forward until I fix the financial damages caused by my last binge. I’ve run out of resources to cover my loss and feels stuck. Just want to crawl into a cave and hide. My first gambling addiction counseling appt is tomorrow. Hope this can help me figure out my triggers and how to stop it. Feeling somewhat helpless at the moment…

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow Nani. You are not helpless anymore. You will have the support of your counselling and the support here. What other steps can you take? What barriers can you put in place? The pain you are feeling right now will fade, the finances will improve again. That’s when it’s important to have things in place so try and put as many things in place now, while you can’t/don’t want to gamble, and then you will be in a better position if any urges return. keep posting.

Had my first counseling session. The counselor disclosed to me that she is former compulsive gambler. Glad to be speaking with someone that can relate. Next step is to self exclude myself from the casino. Determined to kick this…

      Hey Nani

Im so glad your appointment went well. Remember breakdown what needs to be done making sure that its feasible. Making it unrealistic just ensures failure and boy what a great trigger that can be.

The relief when you exclude will help so much, when you’ve done that hopefully your post about your next realistic goal

      Take Care
