I am a 47 yr old mother to 4 who has a problem with online gambling. (Slots only) I haven’t gotten in to much debt yet apart from overdraft which I know I can rectify within 2 weeks as long as I stop gambling. So here goes my day 1 I have self excluded from all sites and set up a filter on my tablet .ordered a new bank card which I intend to give to my daughter in sealed envelope so I can’t register it on line. I am sick of feeling miserable and like I am being devious whereas I am not a devious person at all it’s just the gambling makes be that person .so here’s to Day 1 of getting the old me back….. I am determined to do this , it is not going to destroy me . I know I am better than this.

Hello Sharins, well done on looking for help.
Also well doen on the steps that you have taken so far Do you gamble elsewhere? While the online slots might eb the current problem it is a GAMBLING addiction. I would recommedn avoiding all forms of gambling or the addiction is likely to switch how it gets its s fix.
Keep posting.

Thank you for commenting Charles..No I don’t gamble anywhere else , to be honest gambling has never Interested me, I wouldn’t know what to do in a bookies, or real slot machines,i don’t even do lottery or scratchcards it’s just something about online slots (and only 1 game in particular)that seemed to get hold of me. It started late last year when someone mentioned a certain slot so and one day I came across it on my tablet somehow so I registered for a site and had a big win and it just spiralled from there. I am on day 2 now and feeling optimistic and know I have to be careful not to be complacent, but I am determined as I am not that person who would spend hours every day playing slots. Good luck to everyone .

Hi Sharins and welcome to the forum. It is never too early, nor can it ever be too late to start tackling this addiction. Once a person is hooked it can be difficult to break the habit but not impossible. Using many tools and methods we learn to live free from its grasp. I hope you find things to keep you occupied. Sometimes it’s hard to fill the free time or find hobbies that give us the same «thrill». Keep at it and I’m sure you’ll find the right fit. Well done on putting in place steps to stop the craziness. It would only get worse.

Thanks for replying Laura
this forum is truly an inspiration.I will stop as although I was only doing it for a relatively short time , I am addicted so the only way forward was to make it impossible to play them anymore. I have just bought a new puppy so I’m pretty sure he will fill in my spare time. Hope you are well. Sharon. -

Hi jay Kay nice to hear from you.. I am on day 6 now and it feels good. I know what you mean about the little thoughts in your head it’s just so irrational. I feel like I am winning anyway as although I don’t have a lot of disposable income due to sorting overdraft out, I have not wasted loads of money and time on slots and I feel like a happier person.. congrats on week 23 by the way 🙂 x

Hi Sharins well done on recognising your addiction so early before it totally escalated , day 6 , day 7 they all are different numbers and different days thats the beauty of them . Mark each day with a £1 in a money box and treat yourself now and again.

Thank you for asking jay kay. Yes I’m still on the right path and I must admit life is feeling pretty good again. I have money to spend instead of just gambling it away and I’m a better person in myself. I feel like the old me again. Hope you are doing well still. Sharon.
