In the last two months I just managed to blow through all of my savings gambling at the casino. Before this I was working two jobs in the hope of one day going to meet the girl that I love in Korea and starting a life with her. Now that’s all gone I don’t have a home and my last hope is that I will be able to hold on until my salary for this month comes through. This all started when I went to the casino the first time. I kept losing but after I only had 2k left I was able to get all my money back and then double it. The very next day I came back and I lost all of it. That’s been the cycle for the last two months now. I realized that I had to stop when after sleeping outside(since I was now homeless) I found that my phone had been stolen. That was the only way that I can contact Korea and with that gone I realized what a total failure I had been. In the next 2 days I expect to get the remaining half of my bonus. That’s going to a phone and to pay off the remaining debt that I have. After this I hope to survive for another month on the street so I can keep my promise to send her a new phone for by the 20th of January. I realize that I am lucky since my work has not been affected and in a country where most people struggle to find work I have two jobs and earn 5 times the average wage. I have gone from being a homeless and moneyless person before and I intend to do it again.

      Thank you for reading this.

Hi Severusx, well done on looking for help.

It sounds like you have gotten yourself out of situations like this before and will do again. This time though you have acknowledged the problems and can continue to use support so that you don’t then just create another problem

Read the other stories here, you will see a lot of stories simialr to your own. You will also see the success stories, what are they doing that you can apply to your own situation?

Keep posting and let us know the positive steps you are taking.

Admitting that I had a problem was the most important thing that I did. There is only one way out of this hole and once I’m out I hope to help others as well. Unfortunately there are no support groups or programs for gamblers in my country and perhaps this is something I can change when I am better.
